In Ubuntu, the attached patch was applied to achieve the following:

libxv is pulled in by the dependency chain in a clean chroot, but is actually a requirement, I tried just installing the build deps listed and it failed to build w/out libxv1 installed
libspeexdsp I'm not sure about, it seems to work fine in Debian w/out it, but the Ubuntu build failed without this as well, I can get you the specific error if you need it.  In any case, the Debian build does look for it, but seems to be happy without it.

  * Add build-dep on libspeexdsp-dev and libxv-dev; Fixes FTBFS
    - update debian/control
