Hi Christian--

Chanop has orphaned the fontforge package (see bug #357867 [0]) after
two years of good maintenance. Thanks, Chanop! You're much
appreciated. Kęstutis Biliūnas (quite active on this list) appears to
have offered to take over the package, unless we arrive at consensus
as a group about doing some sort of team maintenance.

George Williams is the upstream author. He's allowed to apply
whatever patches he wants :) He's actually extremely responsive on the
fontforge-devel [1] list. I think it's a nice courtesy that he's
putting his responses into the debian BTS as well.

Ian Jackson appears to be taking an interest in the package in his
capacity as an ubuntu developer. This is also a good thing.

Hope this summary helps clear things up, and that other people will
chime in to fill in anything i missed or got wrong.
