Most Indic languages are not well supported and we either use freefont
or specialized fonts (I was working yesterday on the font to properly
Malayalam).

Dzongkha (Tibetan script) is also better supported with either a
specialized font (Jomolhari) or the Tibetan Machine font

Amharic, when supported, will probably use Abyssinia.

Arabic uses Nazli from ttf-farsiweb. So would Persian.

Georgian uses BPG_Glaho

Khmer uses KhmerOSsys from the KhmerOS initiative

Thai uses a font from ttf-thai-tlwg-udeb

CJK languages have a specialized "compact" udeb named
ttf-cjk-compact-udeb. I don't know which font is used as basis for
this.
