The first sentence fragment should become a sentence.

FLOSS seems redundant given the package's presence in Debian main.

s/vera/Vera/.

I think "version 1.10" needs parentheses or comma delimters; better yet, it
probably doesn't need to appear in the package description at all.

How about "This package provides the DejaVu fonts, an expanded version of the
Vera family (version 1.10). DejaVu aims for quality and broader Unicode
coverage while retaining the original Vera style."

How about "DejaVu currently works towards conformance with the MES-1 and MES-2
Unicode coverage standards.", or "currently conforms to" if the fonts actually
do comply.

You might also want to expand MES, unless you expect that people only know it
by its acronym.

"Available flavours" needs a definite article. However, I would suggest: "The
DejaVu fonts provide serif, sans, and monospaced variants."

</bikeshed> :)
