[Pkg-fonts-devel] how to postinst fonts these days?

Hi,

We are in the process of packaging up the fonts at
http://aenigmafonts.com/ and am a bit unsure as to how to deal with
defoma and fontconfig.

Right now, we build-depend-indep on defoma (>= 0.11) and call
dh_installdefoma in the binary-indep target, as per:

  http://wiki.debian.org/Fonts/PackagingPolicy

I also configured it to call defoma-hints to generate debian/hints
during the build.

However, defoma-hints needs libft-perl, which seems orphaned and is
uninstallable, and thus the build fails.

As a result, the package comes without postinst/prerm files and
defoma is never called during installation. OOo however, as well as
the Gimp, can use the fonts, but they (obviously) don't show up in
xlsfonts. Should they?

Is defoma still needed? And how does fontconfig come in, which is
recommended by our package as an alternative to x-ttcidfont-conf

  Recommends: x-ttcidfont-conf | fontconfig

but also not used.

Confusedly,
