my experience working with git is that we really want one repo per
project.  And i'd rather not make transitioning the fontforge packaging
contingent on transitioning all other packaging.  So my current proposal
is just to transition fontforge (though i'd be happy to see other
projects transition as well).

Thanks!  If other folks are OK with the transition, i'll probably push a
proposed git tree somewhere public in the next week and ask for feedback
before trying to publish it git.debian.org.  A review and suggestions at
that point would be really helpful (or if you just want to go ahead and
do the transition yourself, i'd be happy to provide the review -- i
don't really care which role i play in the process as long as it ends up
being well-done).
