I agree with you on this point. This is the whole reason why I dropped
git-svn importing for Debian-IN svn. Because I can't import
package wise instead whole svn repo gets converted to one big bunch of
git repo.

If we move only fontforge repository to git we need to place it under
collab-maint or some where else in git.debian.org. Will it be okay
with pkg-fonts team?

I'll do this over the weekend and place it somewhere in github or
gitorious. If you finish before that please let me know so we won't
duplicate the efforts.
