I've fixed this in SVN, but I am not sure if it's worth a freeze 
exception. Escpecially, since calibre 0.9.0+dfsg-1 has just been 
uploaded to unstable and contains a fix for this issue.

Has calibre ever heard of fontconfig, BTW? ;)
