Hello all,

Progress Update
---------------
There has been a lot of progress in fontforge packaging, thanks to Jonas
who almost cleared most of copyright parts single handedly. Jonas also
managed to rig up rules to build the fontforge without using the
bootstrap script provided by upstream. So many thanks to Jonas for
helping up.

You can try building the fontforge from our repository now. But you need
to regenerate control file with following command

  DEB_MAINTAINER_MODE=1 fakeroot debian/rules debian/control

Don't worry it will be not needed once package is finalized. Also note
licensecheck barks a lot of warning during build. (Related to some
unicode stuff)

Question
--------

Coming to actual part. I noticed there is a fontforge-nox package which
is built bit weirdly . It does entire fontforge build process from
override_dh_strip target, by disabling X support and python extension.

Package description says its without X and used only for scripting. But
I wonder if any one is using this package. In most of my font packages I
directly use fontforge to build fonts from source. Does any one else has
use case for fontforge-nox?.

Just to briefly say it all do we need fontforge-nox, we can simply use
fontforge from scripts. If we don't need it we should stop building this
package.

Cheers,
