I suspect what Fabian is trying to say is that you likely misunderstood 
what is needed here, Vasudev.

Most likely, instead of the _source_ package _build-depending_ on 
libglib2.0-dev, the _*-dev_ package should _depend_ on it.

But please don't follow my advice blindly: As always, ask (not for 
permission but for clarification) if in doubt. :-)
