Yes, I'm glad to see that the workaround works.

P.S. As per stretch freeze policy [1], we have a chance to push it into Debian 
Stretch. (Which is requesting unblock for fixing an important bug for Priority: 
optional package via unstable). Could you please take a try and let the fix 
enter Stretch?
