This has been so far a manual process. It is my understanding that FontForge has the ability of 'scripting', i.e. automate certain tasks like generating TTFs from SFDs, but honestly I have never used such a feature as I never needed to. Maybe if you have more information on this particular point, or if there are any other scripting mechanisms to automate this process?. Maybe it sounds like a beginner's question, but I honestly don't know how things work in Debian.
