OK, I changed the subject to reflect these new problems.

According to your post at [1], it seems that the g_ether module is not
loaded: indeed, it I remove it and then plug the USB cable, the battery
of my FR does not charge and the power-led is not on.  With the USB
cable still plugged, as soon as I insert the g_ether module the battery
starts to be charged and the led is switched to on.

Again, it seems that your Debian installation was not complete, at
least WRT the /etc/modules [2].  However, I don't know where the problem
could come from.
