clicking on the icon right after installation says does nothing, but
says 
Not starting gestures manager, please setup correct device in /etc/default/gestures-daemon

It would be better if this would be an on-screen-display.

Even better (if you want to do it), since you are already using dbus
anyways: check if hal is running, and if it is query for existing
supported accelerators via dbus and use a sensible default. You can make
it configurable, if the user does not like the applications choice.
