The distutils files are ready. But nobody ever used it. So I cannot say
if they are correct (that's my first try at it), but I would say that
tuning it right would be part of the inclusion process in Debian feed.

Maybe you should use openBmap then ;-)

Ideally the package would be located into the feed. But if anybody would
like to prepare a debian package (or help me getting it right), this
would already help users to install it under Debian, from openBmap site
for example.

I have seen a thread on OM ML about a script which is able to install
ipk packages under Debian.
http://lists.openmoko.org/pipermail/community/2009-May/047651.html

If nobody is interested in taking care of the package, do you think this
might be a viable solution?

At the moment it only works with FSO. With time I may add different
backends (gpsd, gsmd, etc.), but I don't think I have time to take care
of this in near future (collaboration and patches are welcome, or course
:-) ).

Thanks for you help,

Onen
