Sounds like even more screen real state at the cost of a single button press.
(I assume that a short press opens the GUI and let you perform the needed action)

Actually sounds as if it might be useful at it current state of development.

I for one might be interested in it as a "home" window just for the 
launch applications, control the device functionality

Yes I should at some point the future make the code repository readable 
by the public

Could the source not include "bindings" for other distributions as well?

I personally would not mind having say bitbake recipes in it as an example.

I like the thought that the source includes everything needed to build an
application, including the files needed for building packages.

But as I am sort of new to building packages the inclusion of 
multiple packaging files may cause problems that I am not aware of.
