Since this bugreport is open for nearly a year, here is another piece of
information for everybody who needs a quick fix (I also just ran into
that one):

The file you have to edit is

/var/lib/dpkg/info/nodm.config

And the "echo db_unregister nodm/xinit" should be around line 20.
