[pkg-fso-maint] X doesn't start fro normal user anymore

hej,

after maybe one and a half year i un-shelved my freerunner, revived it and  
did an upgrade to latest unstable (including kernel and udev).
but now X doesn't start for normal user anymore, only for root.

i added my user to all groups mentioned in the DebianOnFreeRunner wiki,  
but still no luck.

where did what change, so i can fix that within my old installation?
alternatively: is there a basic image i can flash? seems like the  
installer requires another bootable distribution in NAND, but there's all  
debian.
