Ok, I've been away from my e-mail for too long, I'd have wanted to send this
before upstream was contacted. :-(
I'd prefer a different solution than two tar-balls. How about putting the
upstream tarball in a tarball itself, call that orig.tar.gz (yes, that's
repackaging, but doesn't need any maintainance) and do unpacking, dos2unixing,
autogenning and the usual stuff from debian/rules? Other packages do that as
well, for example gcc.
It would not result in a huge diff, would not need maintainance of a second
release tarball, and would be as readable as any other package.
What do you think about it?
I encourage people to send encrypted e-mail (see http://www.gnupg.org).
If you have problems reading my e-mail, use a better reader.
Please send the central message of e-mails as plain text
in the message body, not as HTML and definitely not as MS Word.
Please do not use the MS Word format for attachments either.
