 I don't think that snapshots will help here, only if you are completely
sure that they won't change the ABI/API level in the svn anymore until
the release. Otherwise you'll create the same problems for the final
release again.

 Again, please check carefully if the new release sets a proper ABI/API
level; that is, it has to at least differ from 1, resulting in a
libopenal1 package.

 Erm... Rather fix the problem in one place where it comes from than
cast it on all the depending packages, not? :)  It's nothing related to
pkg-games, and not even related to libraries. Even if it might be the
easier task for the problem at hand for a single package, one should
never forget about the bigger picture and the overall quality...
