I believe (can't find the reference ATM) that the pkg-java-maintainers are 
standardising/have standardised on CDBS for java packages.  So it probably 
makes sense to follow their example for Spice Trade.  

I know some java (although all my experience is with sun's jdks).  If no-one 
beats me to it, I'll try to get Spice Trade running with gcj/kaffe later 
this week.
