Downloaded. Hmm... while the license of the source tell's it's GPL, the
license file of the data-file states the following:

======
==============================
Glest Game 2.0.0  License
==============================

Except where otherwise noted, all of the documentation, multimedia and software included in the Glest Game setup package is copyrighted by The Glest Team.

Copyright (C) 2001-2005 The Glest Team. All rights reserved.

This software is provided without any express or implied warranty. In no event shall the author be held liable for any damages arising from the use of this software.

This software is freeware. All redistributions of this software, or any of the data contained in it, must retain all occurences of the above copyright notice and web site addresses that are currently in place.
[..]
======

I think that could be one of the common "don't know the difference
between freeware and freesoftware" case. Strictly speaking one could
argument, that a) the license.txt of the data-file speaks of the entire
game (and therefore contradicts to the license.txt of the source.zip) b)
it doesn't even allow distribution ;)

I'm sure, if we contact upstream and ask for clarification they'll
relicense it under the GPL, looks like that was, what they originally
wanted ;)

I was able to successfully build it, but when trying to test it, the
screen turns black and nothing more happens :(

Will try later with my non powerpc machine.

Yours sincerely,
  Alexander
