Do you know, what an ITP is? If yes, skip the next paragraph ;)

To make sure to not waste time by several people doing the same thing by
packaging the same software, people interested in packaging some
software send in a special bug report. So everyone knows "Oh, foo is
allready working on it, so I can do something else instead (or ask him
tohelp)". It's a bug against the wnpp package (work needing and
prospective packages), with "ITP" in the Subject line (ITP stands for
"intent to package").

A couple of month ago, I volunteered to package nexuiz and send such an
ITP. You can see it at http://bugs.debian.org/311479. Later I stepped
bag from that, and damog took over. At the top of the page, you can
see, that he is still the owner of this bug.

IIRC damog didn't had the time to package nexuiz, and suddenly you
stepped in.

What you should have done, is to
a) "claim" that bug for yourself
(by changing the owner of the bug)
b) send from time to time a status update to that bugreport, so people
   know what's going on
c) close that bug with the initial release

Yours sincerely,
  Alexander
