Probably the wishlist bug can be filled, but first probably it would
be best to contact the maintainer(s) and ask dirrectly if they intent
to package that.

IIRC, <package>@packages.debian.org will send a mail to package
maintainer(s); somebody correct me if I am wrong.

If you fill a wishlis bug, you could block the ITP (#290836) with that
bug (BTW, RFP should be changed into ITP):
