The copyright file contains:

This is modified from upstream's:

#    it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by

#    any later version.

There are two problems with this:

1) we should not be modifying the upstream author's words here, and
2) it's nonsense with the `or' part of the `either ... or' statement
deleted
