thank you very much for your effort!

However, for my taste these patches are a bit too invasive and I'd 
rather like to stay with our straightforward set of patches for the 
time beeing. At least, until someone else agrees to become a 
co-maintainer and supports me in handling these megabytes of patches. ;)
