  Don't dream too much: Java's understanding of locales is very basic...
I had to use a shell script hack to make it understand LC_MESSAGES.
Don't expect fine-grained tuning, as Jens Seidel already pointed out.
I'm therefore downgrading this bug as wishlist, and I don't think it
ever will be fixed.
