Well, then we could at least offer an administrator of the system (who
is installing the package) an option to do it during installation and
inform him that the package is not usable until this reindexing is
finished. Other option may be scheduling it for later execution
with increased nice.

The way it is now, the administrator of the system may think that the
package is installed and configured properly (no errors, no messages),
but in fact the regular user cannot use it.
