Bug#472087: prboom sound bug.

Your instincts are good.

Installing the latest prboom seems to have no effect regarding this
bug. However, creating emtpy file /etc/timidity/timidity.cfg fixes (or
works around) it. Both "prboom" and "prboom -nosfx" work as expected.

As for sound hardware, it's built into my motherboard. VIA chipset.
Here's the relevant line from lspci:

I have some experience with sdl-mixer. I'll look into this further.
