Hi there,

I just noticed that we apparently never replied to this email. Dang, sorry for that :/. But better late than never...

The SCI engine in ScummVM is based on FreeSCI, but differs in many ways. It is currently still undergoing major changes due to being rewritten to fit within ScummVM, and for improvements. When it is done, it will hopefully be less buggy and support more games than FreeSCI. But right now it's still under heavy development, and not stable -- e.g. we are likely to break the savegame format before we officially enable it (which I hope will happen in ScummVM 1.2.0).

Despite being heavily based on FreeSCI, though, (the SCI engine in) ScummVM still is a different program. It does not support savegames made with FreeSCI; it does not have the GUI FreeSCI had; it does not parse the FreeSCI config file; and a few features from FreeSCI have been removed (they might be re-implemented in future versions of ScummVM, though).

I see no problem with that. Eugene, do you (Note: Eugene is currently on vacation, so he won't reply soon ;).

Moritz, if you have a patch for this, please send it to me and I can add it.

Cheers,
Max
