Bug#572990: How can this bug not be RC?

Severity: serious

Hello,

I run testing. I installed freeciv, hoping to play a normal game of
freeciv against some AI opponents, no fancy things like network play.

I run freeciv, "Start New Game", and it all freezes. I need to kill
freeciv, and I'm left with a stray freeciv-server process that I need to
hunt down and kill by hand. Same with "Start Scenario Game".

I then find out that I need to run this by hand:

  freeciv-server -b localhost -p 5557 -q 1 -e --saves ~/.freeciv/saves -f ~/.freeciv/scenarios/SOMETHING

I play for a bit, then I save, quit, next day I want to load my saved
game, again freecif freezes. Hunt and kill processes, run freeciv-server
by hand with -f to load my saved game.

I would consider it rather embarassing to have a stable release with
freeciv in this state. How can this bug not be RC?

Maybe my judgement is wrong: feel free to put the severity back to
normal if you think all this is an acceptable behaviour.

Ciao,

Enrico
