To be honest, I don't know (but I'm sure Philip will be able to give a much
more satisfactory reply). However, for what it's worth, 0 A.D.'s website
does say that "The engine core is written in C++ for performance, but the
scripting language, javascript, is what we try to write as much in as
possible." [1]
