It should work by default, I just tried with no configuration and I
get sound.

Could you open a terminal and run the following command?

      mednafen {your ROM} > mednafen.log

(replacing "{your ROM}" with the path to the ROM file you wish to run)
and send the resulting mednafen.log, along with your
~/.mednafen/mednafen.cfg file, in reply to this email?
