I just unpacked the mess0142s.zip over the mame orig target, to see of
there is any conflicts, and there actually four Mame files which are
overwritten by MESS files ( on purpose I guess )

hash/softwarelist.dtd
docs/config.txt
docs/license.txt
docs/mame.txt
docs/newvideo.txt
docs/windows.txt ( which we don't distribute )

These files happen to be exactly the same, although diff -u pretends
they differ. I guess an encoding or formatting issue. I don't know why
the MESS zip includes them.

I started to build mame package ( debian/rules binary) with the mess
overlay inside the source tree and compiling mame seems otherwise not
affected.

0.142 builds fine, the copyright file is updated, we have the kfreefbsd
patch now, feel free to upload !
