 No, it won't.  The plan is to get it removed once 1.10 did stick in
testing for a bit to get more exposure, togehter with ...

 ... together with wesnoth-1.8 removal. :)  The patch is clear, it
should even be linked from the bugreport into the upstream bug tracker
IIRC (can't look right now, but upstream will find it for me if needed),
though:  when I uploaded 1.10 to unstable, I did merge the packaging
into the master branch and thus abandoning the 1.8 version from a VCS
point of view.

 Granted, I could branch the last upload off easily, but I really don't
see the need to put efforts into this.  Please go ahead from my limited
wesnoth point of view with flipping boost-defaults, it won't disturb my
packaging work at all, everything is on tracks. :)
