Not super thrilled about this one. berto has nailed down the exact cause
of the segfault. Why not just fix that and keep going with gcc4.7?

Also, instead of not closing the bug, I would clone it and assign the
clone to gcc-4.7, important severity, but leave ours at serious severity
so we have something to close and to track for testing migration.

Actually, a clone for mess would not be too much either.

What do you think?

I'm swamped and can't do much.
