Hello Roger,

Thanks for this bug report.

Actually, the version you are using (1.510+bz2-3) is not part of
Debian anymore[1]. It used the ia32-libs mechanism which is not available
in wheezy anymore, so we prepared a new version which uses Multi-arch
to install i386 libraries on an amd64 system.

To use zsnes on amd64 wheezy, you need to :

  - enable multi-arch (I don't know if there are official instructions
yet, but dpkg --add-architecture i386 ; aptitude update should be
    fine)
  - at that time you should be able to "aptitude install zsnes:i386".
However #638741 makes it impossible to do it automatically. You
need to manually apply the patch and installed a patched libao.
You will also need a multiarched libcap2 (ie, >= 1:2.22-1.1), so
take the version from unstable or wait until libcap2 migrates
(it should be ok when #672940 [3] is fixed)

I realise that this is not very user-friendly, but due to the removal
of ia32-libs (which was a hack anyway), it is not possible to have a
native amd64 package.

Of course, keeping the old amd64 package should be OK for a while !

Have a nice day,
