Package: zsnes
Version: 1.510+bz2-3
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
starting zsnes on an amd64 system: zsnes -ad sdl

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?
I installed the i386 equivalent in a multiarch (amd64 & i386) chroot; sound works
fine when no other application (e.g. vlc, flash, ...) uses audio output.
I can't install zsnes:i386 on my main setup since libasound2*:i386 can't be
installed together with their amd64 equivalents.

I tried to follow the advice in http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=79199
and installed lib32asound2-plugins from stable. That didn't work since the sound
was very unreliable and stuttered when it worked at all. Also, on quitting zsnes,
it went into a 100% CPU infinite loop and could only be shut down by using kill -9.

   * What was the outcome of this action?
Apart from there being no sound, the following lines were printed to console:
ALSA lib ../../src/conf.c:3314:(snd_config_hooks_call) Cannot open shared library libasound_module_conf_pulse.so
ALSA lib ../../../src/pcm/pcm.c:2217:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM default

A quick google search suggests that I'm not the only one with this problem.
