Hello Felix
Building a mame backport for squeeze is quite hard, besides the problem
you mentionned, you have to build -O0 to  compete the build with the
gcc-4.4 provided and even with that some games will segfaut (supported
gcc by mane is > 4.6 IIRC)

Just upgrade to Squeeze and the package will start working again :)
