I was recently informed that you need the libtxc-dxtn0 package from the
unofficial Debian Multimedia repository to play the game because it
includes an extension for your video card which is restricted by
patents. However I can't verify that and don't recommend to use it.

Thanks for your screenshots and your additional information. That's
indeed strange because I use the same i915 chipset and the game works.

Could you post the output of lspci -v | grep VGA ? There are multiple
sandybridge cards mentioned on this site but I need the exact model type
to investigate this issue further.

So my overall impression for now is that some OpenGL extensions don't
work with your specific video card and the game is thus misrendered on
your system.
