I guess most users would never upgrade these package.

says that exactly one computer has this package installed for now ... mine,
so backward compatibility is not really needed here.

the "provides:" is also needed by the automatic language-choosing procedure

Well, having bad checksums from a a scratched CD won't help anyone;
I know there are some kind of device that looks likes miniature
dishwashers that can polish a CD to remove the scratches.

I was somekind expecting the different checksums for The Dig,
that's why I begun with the German dubbing.
