That would be interesting in general to get the dynamically-linked versions
running.

I just tried the static Loki version and it works fine on my system,
including videos! Stephan mentions that it's playable without audio, see
below...

Most OSS stuff still works for me with oss-compat, including rt2; osspd might
be worth a shot too.
