Confirmed: Got the same issue on lucid i386.

My work around:
*Download http://funguloids.sourceforge.net/files/funguloids.mpk.zip
*Extract in "/usr/share/games/funguloids/"
*Change file ownership/permission of "funguloids.mpk"

MD5sum: e7a6a62c920da109a345713c9cab3f0d  funguloids.mpk

Off topic: This is my second work around to get the game working. First
was because of missing dependency see

Status in “funguloids” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: funguloids

  When trying to play the game, it segfaults.  This is due to an issue
  with the later versions of ogre and older versions of the funguloids
  data.  The fix is available at

  http://funguloids.sourceforge.net/download.html

  Getting the new data files into the package would be very helpful.
