Simeon imho you are wrong, this bug should be fixed by backporting
Pokerth to oneiric and older releases.

In my ppa I have build pokerth for oneiric and precise.

Status in “pokerth” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  It's not possible to launch or join an online game. There appears a
  message about a newer version (0.9 ist the actual one) available and
  prevents online gaming.
