Hi,

Thanks for the report. The symlink is indeed the simplest option in 1.2.
The setting for ‘kernel’ will not affect HVM instances - the HVM support
in 1.2 is a little bit hackish.

We're going to fix this in upstream future version so that it's working
correctly when modifying the kernel path; but for 1.2 and 2.0, you will
need the symlink. I'll see if patching the debian package is feasible.
