No, I have not heard of this before - but also I must admit that I only 
use this library indirectly for other tools to generate their graphs, 
and do not pay much attention to the detail that you've done here.


It certainly looks like a bug: Please file a proper bugreport instead of 
continuing discussing it loosely here on this mailinglist.  I recommend 
filing Debian bugreports using the commandline tool "reportbug" found in 
the Debian package by the same name. That tool guides you through the 
process to help gather related info valuable to our work hunting down 
the bug.


Also, you can try install the older libgd-graph-perl package on your 
otherwise upgraded system to see if the problem disappears. If not, then 
the cause is deeper down, most probably in the actual GD library.

But whatever you do, please do not simply reply to this message but file 
a bugreport and let us continue the discussion there (it is a mail-based 
bugtracker to just as convenient as this mailinglist to use, once you 
get over the initial reportbug routine.
