[Pkg-giraffe-discuss] Kopano Webapp plugins versioning

Hi everyone,

I recently spent some time packaging several Kopano Webapp plugins for
Debian. While doing that, I ran into the following problem: the Git
repositories of the plugins do not contain a version tag for released
versions. That makes it very hard to do proper release management with the
Debian packaging toolchain.

The spellchecker plugin, for example, has one version tag (v2.0.0) on the
initial commit from 2016. The version of the Kopano-built Buster package is
2.0.0.23+40.1, which seems to be the latest version tag plus the number of
commits since that version. However, that makes it not possible to determine
the last released version by looking at the Git repo alone.

I would like to ask if it is possible that the Kopano webapp Git repos are
tagged whenever a plugin is released, but I'm not sure who to ask this.

Felix, since you're the Release Manager, maybe you can share some wise words
about this?

Thanks a lot,

Roel
