Maximizing windows doesn't always work. I've put some screenshots
that show the problem at http://blackdown.de/~jk/metacity/
Screenshot1.png shows the setup before hitting the maximize button on
the gedit window. Screenshot2.png shows the "maximized" gedit window,
as you can see, it's not really maximized.
The size of wrongly maximized windows seems to be mostly random. If
there's only one window on a workspace, maximizing works correctly for
that window. If there are two or more windows on a workspace is
broken for all windows (well, sometimes it works for the upper left
window).
Desktop size is 1600x1200.
