The translation for the label of the language button is wrong in the XML files of the themes.
For example, in French, it is translated by "Option" (which has the same meaning than in English).
For correct translations (at least for French, as far as I know), have a look at the default themes distributed with gdm.
This problem is present in all the themes (except for industrial, which seems to have no l10n for this button...)
