Ok, gstreamer is installed.

All gstreamer plugins are installed, including ALSA plugin.

Well, looks strange. Both Audio Input/Ouput combobox are set to "custom"
(German: Benutzerdefiniert) without any alternatives to choose,
but I already changed osssrc/ossink with alsasrc/alsasink without
any success.

Then I had a look on gstreamer.net for troubleshooting and noticed that
gst-inspect-0.8 doesn't show me neither osssink nor alsasink although
I have ALL gstreamer-0.8 plugins installed as aptitude shows.

I have the feeling that my gstreamer configuration is completely hosed.
I had some gstreamer 0.6 packages installed before and updating some
gnome packages (maybe gnome-media or gnome-applets) pulled in
gstreamer-0.8 without wiping out the old gstreamer beforehand.
I just removed all old gstreamer stuff from my system and also tried to
reinstall all gstreamer-0.8 packages but it didn't help. gsp-inspect-0.8
still doesn't show me the alsa plugin (or OSS), although the debs are
installed. I'm clueless about that.

While trying to cleanup that gstreamer 0.6/0.8 mess I noticed that
aptitude showed me gnome-media having a depency on either
gstreamer-0.8-oss or gstreamer-alsa (0.6), shouldn't that be
gstreamer-0.8-alsa instead?

So if it should work now then at least updating from earlier versions
seems to make a mess... any ideas to solve this are appreciated.

Regards,
Daniel
